Hi Griselda

Chapter Twenty-Two: The Joad's get tired of living in the camps so they go to a government-based camp. There, elected officials make the laws, punishments, and overall decisions. While at the camp, the Joads meet the Wallace's. Mrs. Wallace asks Tom to come help them work. The owner of the Wallace's land tell them that there will be a fight so that the police can close down the camp. Why do you think that they would want to close down the camp? It brings in money and people have jobs? Later on in the day, the Joad men go and look for a job. Rose of Sharon and Ma are still at the camp doing their own work. A women comes in a tells them that sinful things are happening at the camp. Two other pregnant women had done these sinful acts and they lost their babies. This really makes Rose of Sharon afraid for her own baby. Do you think that she will or will not lose her baby? Ma tells her to calm down and once they do, Ma starts thinking about Oklahoma and all the sad times they have had; granpa and granma deaths, Noah not following them all the way to California, and them having to leave their home.

Chapter Twenty-Three: A theme a saw in this chapter was hope. Thousands of people came to California to look for jobs but now that they are there, there aren't any. Now these people need food and shelter and it is a very tough time for them. They try to make things better for themselves by grouping together and telling stories, singing, dancing, and playing music. Do you think that it is going to get worse or better for these people?

Chapter Twenty-Four: This is a chapter about helpfulness and commitment. First, there is a dance in the camp where all the "Okies" are staying. Since they are there own little town with a government, elected officials try to put a committee where, at the dance, they will look for people who are trying to intrude and cause trouble. Then, three men looking suspicious come into the dance and they are slowly walked out without causing a scene.
